You know what they say: the devil is a liar. And in Job chapter 3, that’s exactly what happened. The devil said, “Skin for skin! A man will give up everything he has to save his life,” but he was proven wrong.
Job was going through a lot. He was questioning why he even had to live such a long life just to experience calamity. He was tired of holding on and even wished he had died at birth. He saw life as a curse and death as his only relief. Can you imagine feeling that way?
“Why did I not die at birth,
Come out of the womb and pass away?” (Job 3:11).
But even in the midst of his pain and suffering, Job never lost faith. He knew that the devil’s lies could never alter the providence and work of God. And that’s something we need to remember, too. No matter what we’re going through, the Gospel remains true.
So let’s not lose faith. Let’s remember that even in the toughest of times, God is with us. And let’s hold onto the hope that one day, we’ll be in a place where there is no more pain or suffering.
Stay strong, stay faithful, and remember: the devil is a liar.
