Your Pain is Not Meaningless

Are you ready to hear the words of a man whose conviction and passion about the glory of God will leave you awestruck? Let me introduce you to Eliphaz, and his powerful words in Chapter 5 of the book of Job. Prepare to be reminded of the wonders that God creates and the incredible things He does that are beyond human comprehension.

“Who does great and unsearchable things,
Wonders without number.
He gives rain on the earth,
And sends water on the fields,
So that He sets on high those who are lowly,
And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
He frustrates the schemes of the shrewd,
So that their hands cannot attain success.
He captures the wise by their own cleverness,
And the advice of the cunning is quickly thwarted.
By day they meet with darkness,
And grope at noon as in the night.
But He saves from the sword of their mouth,
And the poor from the hand of the strong.
So the helpless has hope,
And injustice has shut its mouth,” (Job 5:9–16).

God has a way of lifting up those who are lowly and providing safety for those who mourn. He also has a way of frustrating the schemes of the shrewd and causing the wise to be captured by their own cleverness.

Eliphaz, in his desire to help Job, encourages him to turn to God because following Him provides freedom and meaning to life. However, in Job’s case, he was already upright in the eyes of God.

So, here’s the thing, misfortune is never proof that God is angry at us. Trials come our way and God is still there. It’s easy to forget that sometimes God speaks in a whisper rather than a whirlwind. There might be times when you feel like there is something wrong with your Christian life, but it’s simply a test of faith.

We must remember that God has a secret will as well as a revealed will. God’s ways sometimes have no human explanation. The moment we forget that, we turn into an Eliphaz.

Remember that God is always with us, even in the midst of trials and tribulations. Let’s trust in His plan and remember that misfortune does not equal God’s anger. Keep the faith, my friend.
