Job 38:1
In the depths of Job’s journey, a critical moment arises where his faith teeters on the precipice. Surprisingly, the catalyst for his wavering belief is none other than his well-intentioned friends.
They were there for him, yet their words missed the mark. They insisted that Job’s suffering resulted solely from his own transgressions — an erroneous assumption.
However, in this juncture, Job finds himself primed to hear the divine voice, his heart finally receptive to God’s words. Curiously, the Bible reveals that God often takes His time to speak, not rushing to offer immediate answers.
It is at this juncture, after much contemplation, that the Lord chooses to respond, emanating from the very heart of a whirlwind: “Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind and said” (Job 38:1).
The timing is paramount — only then does God share His response with the righteous sufferer.
This begs the question: Are we, too, guilty of not devoting enough silent moments to truly ponder the essence of God? Our lives are a frenzy of incessant busyness, leaving little room for deliberate solitude with the divine.
I confess my own culpability in this regard. It seems that it is through quality time spent in communion with God that we find our spirits soaring on the wings of eagles.
