Romans 3:25
Ever wondered about the incredible gift of salvation from God? It’s given to you freely, but don’t think for a moment that it was obtained without a price.
While we receive certain benefits from God even without Christ, propitiation is not one of them. You see, the price of redemption demanded a flawless sacrifice involving the shedding of blood.
“whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished,” (Romans 3:25).
So, let’s talk about what that means. Jesus paid the entire price for your justification by shedding His blood. You don’t have to pay anything. This is what we call propitiation.
Essentially, the anger of God was redirected towards Christ. This amazing act allowed our sins to be wiped away from God’s record. Instead of falling on sinners like us, the fury and anger of God fell upon Jesus, the Substitute who hung on the cross.
It’s an incredible display of God’s love, as recorded in the Bible. God made a way for us to have eternal salvation, and He chose to do it through His Son.
That’s why we look to the cross. The cross represents the costly price that was paid and the transaction that set us free. Jesus paid it all. All you have to do is place your faith in Him.
Remember, salvation is a precious gift, but it came at a great cost. Let’s cherish it and trust in the One who made it possible.
