One Purpose, One Voice

Romans 15:2,6

In urging us to consider others above ourselves, Paul guides us towards a selfless approach in all our actions.

Even when an action is not explicitly forbidden by the Bible, it is crucial to weigh its impact on others. This act of consideration is not just a recommendation; it aligns with the very attributes of God, encouraging us to pause and contemplate the well-being of others before initiating any action.

Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification….so that with one purpose and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,” (Romans 15:2,6).

The apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of pleasing our neighbor for their good and edification. By doing so, we not only promote the growth of others in grace but also contribute to the strength and unity of the entire church. This unity, characterized by coordinated diversity of gifts, cultures, and backgrounds within the body, fosters effective communication and trust among believers.

In practicing this principle, we unlock a threefold result: edification, unity, and praise.

Edification occurs as individuals grow in grace through our considerate actions. Unity emerges as we set aside personal preferences and focus on a shared purpose — glorifying the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The absence of unnecessary division allows the church to function as a harmonious entity, praising God with united lips and glorifying Christ collectively.

In a church, weak faith can really stir up trouble. Picture this: a church where everyone’s in sync, joining forces for genuine worship. No judgment, no putting ourselves above others — never. True unity, raising our voices together in harmony, is the only path to truly honor Christ.
