Romans 16:25-27
As we look into the final verses of Romans, it’s like taking a glimpse into the heart of Paul—a man deeply invested in the well-being of the church yet unyielding in his commitment to truth. He didn’t want to leave the readers with just a stern warning. It’s a delicate balance of conviction and compassion that resonates deeply with me as I study this book of the Bible.
You see, as I reflect on Paul’s words, I can’t help but recall moments in my own journey where I’ve grappled with similar tensions. There have been times when standing firm on biblical truth felt daunting, especially when faced with the complexities of human relationships and differing interpretations within the church bodies that I have served. Yet, like Paul, I’ve also experienced the joy of genuine fellowship within the body of Christ—a fellowship grounded mainly in the unchanging truth of the Gospel.
In verses 21-24, Paul’s warmth and affection for the church shine through as he extends greetings from fellow believers. It’s a reminder that even with doctrinal debates and theological discussions, there’s a deep sense of camaraderie among those who share in the faith.
And then there’s Paul’s doxology—a resounding declaration of praise to our God who is able to establish us according to the Gospel.
“Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which has been kept secret for long ages past, but now has been disclosed, and through the Scriptures of the prophets, in accordance with the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith; to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 16:25-27).
It’s a reminder that our security and stability come not from human efforts or leadership, but from the unwavering faithfulness of our heavenly Father. This truth has been a source of comfort and assurance for me, especially during seasons of uncertainty and doubt that are part of any ministry.
But perhaps what resonates with me most deeply is Paul’s emphasis on the privilege and responsibility of sharing the Gospel. The mystery of redemption, once hidden, has been fully revealed through Jesus Christ. It’s a truth that has transformed my life, and I’m compelled to share it with others. Whether through conversations with friends and attempting to simply live out my faith authentically, I’m reminded of the importance of proclaiming Christ in both word and deed.
So, as I ponder Paul’s final words, I’m challenged to embrace both the truth and grace of the Gospel with boldness and humility. May we, like Paul, be faithful stewards of this precious message, sharing it with a world in need of hope and redemption.
In closing, let’s heed Paul’s call to action with courage and conviction, knowing that our labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Friends, take up the book and meet people everywhere you can with the message. That is our continuing task!
