Is there anyone good left in the world? Solomon had a hard time finding out. He tried to find life’s answers on his own, but he failed miserably. However, he did discover one harsh truth: nothing is worse than a wicked woman.
“And I discovered as more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her,” (Ecclesiastes 7:26).
Not surprisingly, Solomon says finding a good man is nearly impossible too!
“which I am still seeking but have not found. I have found one man among a thousand, but I have not found a woman among all these,” (Ecclesiastes 7:28).
It’s tough out there, folks! He says while it is almost impossible to find one worthwhile man, it is impossible to find a worthwhile woman!
Personal Reflection:
Solomon was talking about living in a world that mostly ignored God. When God initially made us, He didn’t make us like this…so depraved. Solomon’s point? Free will means everyone has twisted motives.
“Behold, I have found only this, that God made people upright, but they have sought out many schemes,” (Ecclesiastes 7:29).
I love and cherish my wife very much. It’s been my experience that women are more sensitive to matters of the soul, more receptive to ideas of faith, more drawn to the divine than men. Women are truly special beings to be cherished.
When Solomon sees ungodly women, it saddens him deeply. It’s the ultimate proof of human depravity.
The reason we are like this? We chase after all kinds of evil, leading to a world full of corruption instead of turning to our Creator.
