What drives a man to dedicate his entire existence to a cause? What compels someone to forsake their former identity and embrace a new path?
Meet Paul, a former Pharisee transformed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This extraordinary individual’s story is one of unwavering commitment and unrelenting passion. Can you imagine the fervor that propels a man like Paul to proclaim the gospel with such conviction?
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “But the righteous one will live by faith.” (Romans 1:16).
Far too often, I find myself reading the letters of the New Testament and I paint a picture of Paul as a mundane, scholarly figure. I envision him as a solitary soul, confined within the walls of a study, surrounded by ancient books and a cloud of dust.
Paul was unlike anyone else in his unwavering commitment to his faith. He became a true hero, going to great lengths for the sake of spreading the gospel. Just think about it: he faced beatings, survived shipwrecks, and even spent time in prison.
Everywhere Paul went, there was either chaos or tremendous change, like a whirlwind of energy. Nothing could hold him back; he was used by God as an unstoppable force.
The gospel that Paul preached is the same gospel two-thousand years later. Let’s be inspired by Paul’s unwavering faith and commitment, daring to embrace the transformative power of the gospel in our own lives and allowing it to guide us towards a path of unwavering conviction and impact.
