Romans 1:18
In the book of Romans, Paul delivers a powerful message about the undeniable presence of God throughout history and the impending judgment that awaits each and every one of us. It’s quite thought-provoking, isn’t it? Listen to this remarkable verse:
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Romans 1:18).
Now, here’s the thing: deep down, we all have this inherent inclination to push down the truth of God. It’s like a natural reflex within us. Have you noticed how most people go about their daily lives, busying themselves with tasks, and spending their leisure time glued to screens, all the while oblivious to or uninterested in matters of God?
It’s as if His name has been wiped clean from all forms of media and public spaces. We’ve practically erased His presence from education.
But let’s take a moment to reflect. Do you find God present in the majority of family life today? When we engage in business discussions, does God even cross our minds? It seems we are constantly trying to eradicate the very notion of God from our consciousness.
Recently, I had a remarkable conversation with a homeless man. He had a certain knowledge about God, but when I asked if he knew about Jesus, he seemed unsure. So, I took the opportunity to share the gospel message with him. Surprisingly, after hearing it, he acknowledged the truth within it. Yet, he turned to me and honestly said, “I don’t want to live that truth.” He was content and satisfied with his current situation.
It’s interesting, isn’t it? We know deep down that God exists, and we have an awareness of an impending judgment. However, many of us are determined to hold onto our unrighteousness. We have a tendency to twist and distort the truth of God, molding it into a lie. For some, the allure of sin is just too pleasurable to let go.
So, my friends, let’s take a moment to reflect on these thoughts. Are we, too, suppressing the truth? Are we changing the reality of God into something more comfortable, something that aligns with our desires? It’s worth pondering, for it’s in these moments of introspection that we may discover profound truths about ourselves and the world around us.
