The Looming Judgment Day

Romans 2:2

How can a person find favor with a holy and just God?

The book of Romans unfolds the gospel, urging us to grasp its message. It delves into the very core of our existence, acknowledging that each of us is a deliberate sinner, inherently aware of God’s existence and His impending judgment upon evil. Yet, there shines a glimmer of hope — a chance for every individual to be saved and made righteous.

Romans 1:32, “And although they know the judgment of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.”

These words reveal a deep truth: every human being throughout history possesses an inherent knowledge of the forthcoming divine judgment. Yet, despite this awareness, people persist in their sinful ways, not only partaking in wrongdoing themselves but also condoning and endorsing the transgressions of others.

As you read this post, you too acknowledge the resonating truth etched upon your conscience. Deep within, you understand that all humanity dwells in a state of moral corruption, unable to escape the consequences of their actions. The judgment day looms before us. The pivotal question then arises: What form will this judgment assume?

First and foremost, the judgment of God shall be fair and just, as Romans 2:2 reveals, “And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.”

Divine judgment will be based on the undeniable facts of each case, not mere fickleness. In other words, the evidence demands accountability. Romans chapter one aptly established the fact that our sinful nature necessitates judgment from a holy God.

Consider this, no one will find exemption. While this notion may disconcert some, it remains an unalterable reality. Despite protestations, your very conscience attests to this truth.

Perhaps you find the concept of judgment crude or distasteful, but the reality remains: the judgment shall be conducted in absolute truth, presided over by a faultless and righteous Judge. Is there anything more equitable than this?

Neither you nor I possess any valid excuse. We are fully aware that such unrighteousness leads to a depraved mind, further entrenching us in the quagmire of evil with no hope of self-improvement. We find ourselves in the grasp of a wrathful God, who will grant us the desires we cling to.

You must come to terms with the fact that death is an inescapable appointment, followed by the irrevocable judgment. The Bible itself, and even your own heart, cries out in agreement. The reckoning for our sins is an undeniable certainty.

Yet, within this foreboding narrative, hope emerges — the good news of the gospel. God, in His boundless mercy, offers a solution.

The good news arrives in the form of a Savior, who sacrificially died and victoriously rose again to atone for our sins. Through faith in Him, we receive the gift of promised righteousness — a righteousness freely credited to all who place their trust in the Savior. That, dear reader, is our sole hope in this journey.
