Romans 3:31
What if I told you that being a true Christian means feeling ashamed of our mistakes and turning to the Savior for forgiveness? It’s all about owing everything to God and having faith that’s accessible to everyone.
But here’s the question: If faith is the way to connect with God, does that mean we can just forget about following the law? Are the Ten Commandments meaningless now?
“Do we then nullify the Law through faith? Far from it! On the contrary, we establish the Law,” (Romans 3:31).
Absolutely not! Faith doesn’t cancel out the law; it actually upholds it. You see, the gospel preaching reinforces the importance of the law. We need to be justified because we’ve been given a perfect law to follow, which applies to all of us. However, since we’re unable to keep it perfectly on our own, we require the righteousness of Christ.
The law points out our flaws and the gospel offers us salvation. God can’t simply ignore the need for justice.
When the law is broken, there must be consequences. It remains binding. This is where the beautiful grace of the cross comes in — we need the gospel to bridge the gap between us and God.
