The True Compassion of a Christian

Paul’s dedication to Christ knew no bounds!

Day and night, he poured himself tirelessly into spreading the gospel.

However, he remained unsatisfied, relentless in his pursuit to ensure that all would hear the message of salvation.

In a critical message to the church in Rome, Paul declared his desire to journey to them, but with a crucial detour to Jerusalem. Why this urgent diversion?

In Romans 15:25-27, Paul reveals, “But now, I am going to Jerusalem, serving the saints. For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.”

Here lies the urgency: churches in Macedonia and Achaia had diligently gathered resources over years to aid the impoverished in Jerusalem.

Paul, familiar with the saints in Jerusalem, was now prepared to deliver this crucial aid.

The gravity of the situation cannot be overstated. Gentile churches were extending material assistance to their Jewish brethren, recognizing their indebtedness for sharing in spiritual blessings.

This was more than just charity; it was an urgent fulfillment of a spiritual obligation.

Paul exemplifies a selflessness rarely seen. His focus never wavered from the needs of others, devoid of any hint of self-serving motives.

His longing for Rome was eclipsed by his urgent commitment to prioritize the needs of Jerusalem.

This serves as a poignant reminder of the essence of true Christianity: a heart burning with a genuine desire to serve others before oneself.

The urgency of Paul’s mission is challenging every believer to prioritize selflessness and urgent action in service to others.

In these critical times, let’s remember the example of Paul, recognizing the urgency of meeting the needs of others with commitment and selfless love.
