Week 1: The Launch
Welcome back to our TikTok series! Each week, I’ll share what content we posted, the results (followers, likes, and views), and my reflections on the process.
As you can see from the image above, Week 1 went well! My goal is to post short-form videos weekly (mainly sermonettes and social sermons) and possibly a carousel post or two. We’re measuring organic reach only—no money spent on boosting posts.
Initial Success: Analyzing Week 1
I was pleased with the initial reach of our posts. Each video reached hundreds of viewers, with the carousel post performing the best. I’m not sure why yet, but we’ll analyze this along with the impact of posting times.
- Followers Gained: 11 (all organic)
- Total Post Likes: 219
Tip of the Week: Editing and Captions
I’m not an expert video editor, but each time I post, I improve. Initially, I used Camtasia 2019 but quickly upgraded to the 2024 version. The new version offers a wide variety of font styles and auto-generates captions—essential since half of TikTok videos are watched without sound.
Here are some things I learned:
- Captions are Critical: Make sure your videos have captions because 1/2 of the viewers on TikTok watch without sound.
- Spacing is Key: It took a few tries to get the spacing right for captions and headings. Remember, there’s limited space due to other elements on the user’s screen.
Moving Forward
Both Pastor Travis from LifePointe and I are happy with the initial results. Stay tuned each week to see how this TikTok profile evolves. Feel free to leave tips on improving reach and ask any questions in the comments.
