Welcome Back to Week 13 of TikTok for Churches!
We’re back for another update in the TikTok for Churches series! Every week, I share the content we’ve posted, insights we’ve gained, and reflections on how churches can leverage TikTok to expand their ministry.
Now at Week 13, the journey has been both eye-opening and exciting. Let’s dive into what this week taught us and how you can apply these lessons to your own church’s social media strategy.
This Week’s Update
This week, we posted four new sermon clips, each lasting between 20 seconds and one minute. Our viewership remained steady, with each video reaching around 700 views.
While the numbers might seem modest, it’s important to remember that consistency is key when it comes to TikTok’s algorithm. The more regularly you post, the better your engagement will grow over time.
Key Stats:
- Followers Gained: +4 (total 130)
- Total Views: +3,000 (total: 46,000)
- Post Likes: +200
Though the gains might seem small, each new follower or like represents a real person engaging with the Gospel message. We’re not just tracking metrics here; we’re connecting with individuals who need to hear God’s Word.

Practical Steps for Churches Starting Out on TikTok
If your church hasn’t jumped on TikTok yet, it’s time to get started! Here are a few simple steps to help you:
- Create Your Account: Make sure your TikTok account reflects your church’s name and mission.
- Capture Sermon Clips: Use your smartphone to film short, impactful sermon moments.
- Adapt Trends: Stay aware of TikTok challenges or trends that can be adapted with a biblical message.
- Consistency Over Perfection: Aim to post 2-3 times a week, even if it’s a 20-second video. The algorithm favors frequent activity.
Following these steps will get your church on track to create content that engages and inspires your community.
A Real Story of Impact: Brooke’s Journey
TikTok is more than just numbers; it’s a platform where real ministry happens. This week, I posted a 6-second video on my personal account, urging people to go to church on Sunday.
It was a simple clip, featuring a meme of Donald Trump pointing at the viewer.
In just two days, the video took off, garnering 33,000 views, 1,700 likes, and 2,700 shares.
But what struck me wasn’t the viral numbers—it was the connection I made with a viewer named Brooke.
She commented, “I am so tired of trying churches. I’m lost. My husband grew up Catholic, parents and brother converted to Orthodox…tried Methodist, Church of God, Baptist, Hff… Looked into Messianic Judaism. If anyone can help me… I’ve been praying to find a church.”
Brooke was struggling and searching for a spiritual home.
I reached out, and after an hour-long conversation, we talked about what different denominations mean, what to look for in a Gospel-centered church, and how she could find one that aligns with biblical teaching.
By the end, she felt hopeful and agreed to keep trying, with my help reviewing the statements of faith from various churches in her area.
This interaction reminded me that behind every view, like, and share is a real person.
Someone seeking answers, needing guidance, and longing for connection with God. Your church can be that lifeline—reaching people right where they are.
Why TikTok Matters for Churches
TikTok is more than just a passing trend. Its influence on social media has been massive, shifting how platforms like Instagram and YouTube operate.
What sets TikTok apart is that it’s not just a social platform—it’s an entertainment platform. It prioritizes content based on personal interests, viewing habits, and location, which means your church’s content can reach people in your local community even if they aren’t connected with you directly.
It’s important for churches to recognize that TikTok is leading this new era of discovery-based social media.
Whether you personally use TikTok or not, the reality is that this platform is where the attention is, and your church can use it to reach people with the Gospel in powerful, meaningful ways.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward, our goal is to build a consistent rhythm of creating engaging content while staying true to our mission of spreading God’s message.
TikTok’s algorithm might seem unpredictable, but the key is to keep showing up. Keep sharing your message, and trust that God is working through every view, like, and comment.
