Romans 3:22–26
Are you ready for a revelation? Brace yourself, for in the book of Romans, Paul uncovers an undeniable truth. No matter who we are, we are steeped in sin and bound to face God’s judgment. There’s no escaping it, no altering that fact. We are blinded, lost in our unrighteousness.
But fear not, dear reader, for there is hope. In the midst of our despair, a glimmer of light pierces through. It is the righteousness of God, attainable through faith in Jesus Christ.
“but it is the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished; for the demonstration, that is, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus,” (Romans 3:22–26).
This righteousness knows no distinction; it is available to all who believe. You see, we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, but through His grace, we are justified as a gift. This redemption is found in Christ Jesus, whom God publicly displayed as the ultimate sacrifice, shedding His blood to appease His own wrath.
Through faith, we can grasp this divine act of propitiation. And why did God do this? To demonstrate His righteousness, showing mercy by letting past sins go unpunished. It is a powerful demonstration of His justice, making Him both just and the justifier of those who have faith in Jesus.
Take a moment to let this sink in. There is a way, an open door, to appease the very wrath of God. Can you feel your heart leaping in joy? It is the cross of Calvary that holds this remarkable truth.
And within these verses, we discover fifteen profound points about righteousness attained through faith in Christ. It all begins in verse 21, where Paul reveals that this freedom is a divine provision. Yes, God is angry, and His judgment is real, but He is also the one who offers us a way out.
Such is the beauty of the Gospel. The same God who bestowed us with free will also provides a path to righteousness. While judgment looms, it is His mercy that captivates our attention.
What we could never accomplish on our own, God has done for us. Let us raise our voices in praise and gratitude. Today, let us celebrate the mercy and righteousness of our Heavenly Father.
